Situated in the heart of Helsinki, the Esplanade serves as a promenade for tourists and a place to relax for city residents. The park and the Espa Stage host many popular events, including the Marimekko Fashion Show and raising of the midsummer pole accompanied by folk dancing in June and the Jazz-Espa concert series on weekdays throughout July.

Esplanadin puistossa sijaitsevassa Helsingin patsaassa on kaksi pronssista hahmoa: korkean jalustan huipulla seisova, lyseonlehtorin virka-asussaan kuvattu Runeberg, sekä hänen jalkojensa juuressa oleva Suomi-neito joka kannattelee kuparitauluun kaiverrettuja Maamme-laulun sanoja. Porvoon Runebergin patsas on kopio Helsingin patsaasta, mutta pienemmässä koossa ja ilman Suomi-neidon hahmoa.

Die im Esplanadi Park in Helsinki stehende Bronze-Statue hat zwei Merkmale: Sie steht auf einem hohen Sockel und der Titel Gymnasiallehrer Runeberg ist auf dem Sockel angebracht. Desweiteren zu seinen Füßen, die Finnland-Mädchen und eine Kupfer-Platte mit eingravierten Worte der Nationalhymne. die in Porvoo stehende Runeberg-Statue ist eine Kopie der Statue in Helsinki, aber kleiner und ohne die Mädchen.

Es ist ein spezieller Anziehungspunkt fuer Touristen und auch zum Relaxen gut geeignet.
Im Esplanada Park und auf dessen Buehne finden jährlich viele Veranstaltungen statt auch mit sehr poplulären Kuenstlern.
U.a. auch die Modenschau von Marimekko oder zur Sonnenwendfeier ( Juhannus) eine Darbietung von traditionellen Volkstänzen.
Jazz-Espa findet im Juli des Jahresan den Wochentagen statt und viele andere Veranstaltungen.
