Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum
in Turku
from our visit on the 2th July 2011
In 1827 the Great Fire of Turku caused widespread destruction and damage. Luostarinmäki, then at the edge of the city, escaped the flames. Today, it is a unique museum. The houses, yards and alleys give visitors an opportunity for time travel to the 19th century.
The Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum is an outdoor museum that offers information, specimens of skill and experiences in an original pre-industrial environment. Visitors will step 200 years back in time at the museum.
